881. Mary Frances6 Allgood (John Milton5, John Young4, John Young3, William2 Algood, Edward1 Allgood) was born in Jasper Co., MS March 22, 1848. Mary died April 13, 1937 in Jasper Co., MS. The story goes as told by Vickie Rogers that Mary was blind in her later years. She lived with Lula (her daughter) and Will Rogers. Lula was doing wash one day and had some Red Devil Lye in a jar and left it on the counter. Mary loved sweet potatos dipped in sugar. She picked up the jar of Lye and dipped a sweet potato into and ate it.When Lula came in from washing and saw what had happened Mary was already gagging and before the doctor could get there she had died. This was told to me by Penny Maxie Wade her grand-daughter. She is buried in Union line Cemetery according to Penny's father--lower gate close to road and big tree. no marker.
She married Charles Fleming Jeremiah Maxey December 31, 1867 in Jasper Co., MS. Charles was born October 22, 1841 in Monroe Co. GA. Charles was the son of Samuel Butts Maxey and Elizabeth Ann Huddleston. Charles died 1901 in Jones Co., MS. 3181 iv. James Thomas (Tom) Maxey was born in Neshoba Co., MS August 11, 1876. James died December 28, 1963 in Holly Spriings, Marshall Co., MS. Tom was buried in the North Line Cemetery, Jasper Co., MS He married twice.
He married Mary E. Shumaker. He married Roxie Overstreet December 27, 1915.
