3248. Agnes Geraldine7 Allgood (Joseph Curry6, Robert Turman5, John Young4, John Young3, William2 Algood, Edward1 Allgood) was born in Summerfield, Claiborne Parish, LA March 15, 1904. Agnes died October 5, 1992 in Andrews Co., TX. Agnes is buried in Lawnhaven Cemetary, San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX

She married Benjamin Franklin Jones March 12, 1927 in Tyler, Smith Co., TX. Benjamin was born June 11, 1905 in Tyler, Smith Co., TX. Benjamin died November 9, 2003 in San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX. OBIT: Our beloved father and “Gran,” B.F. Jones, age 98, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, in Meadow Creek Nursing Center after a short illness. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens conducted by Nelson Erwin, CLP, at First Presbyterian Church of San Angelo. B.F. Jones was born in Tyler, Texas, on June 11, 1905. He was educated in Tyler public schools and Tyler Business College. During his very early working years, he traveled for Tandy Leather Co., going from East Texas to as far as Thurber, near Ranger, in North Central Texas over, at that time, unpaved roads. While the family was living in Longview in the late 1920s during the height of the East Texas “oil boom,” he began his long career in the oil and gas industry as a scout-landman for the Sun Oil Company, scouting wells and buying leases for the company around Longview, Kilgore, Lufkin and Tyler. In the early 1930s, he moved to Dallas to work for the American Republics Corp. and continue in his chosen profession. During his tenure in Dallas, he furthered his education by attending night classes in the study of law and accounting. In 1937, he transferred with his family to San Angelo to later become the West Texas-New Mexico Division Land Manager for American Republics Corp., now ARCO (Atlantic Richfield Co.), which was a position he would hold until he resigned in 1952 to form his own independent oil and gas lease brokerage firm in 1954. He retired from active participation in the oil and gas industry in April 1965, at which time he turned his energy and efforts to farming and ranching in Coke County, teaching his grandchildren, particularly his grandsons, some of the many manual skills required to operate and maintain the farm and equipment, most of which they have retained to this day. He was blessed with good health and was able to continue and enjoy working with the land for all except the last few years of his life. B.F. was a very kind, generous and loving person. One of his greatest pleasures in life was having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren around him, having a lot of fun and “raising a big ruckus.” His love for each of them was endless. He will be greatly missed by one and all. He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Betty Oquin and Marcus of San Angelo, Peggy Schulkey and Bill of Fort Worth; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin Oquin and Karla of San Angelo, Terry Oquin and Jamie of Nashville, Tenn., Gretchen S. Childs and Tilden of Fort Worth, and Rachel S. Griffith and Michael of Springtown; six great-grandchildren, Kristi Oquin and Aaron Oquin, Tyler Childs and Benjamin Childs, and Camille Griffith and Emily Griffith; and one brother, Morgan Jones of Tyler, Texas. The family wishes to express its sincere and heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Rabb, Mark Rabb, and each and every member of the nursing staff at Meadow Creek Nursing Center, who so kindly and generously gave their most loving care to our loved one. He didn’t always remember your name, but he affectionately called each of you who cared for him daily “Baby.” Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
