Richard died January 13, 2008 in Silver City, Grant Co., NM. Obit: Funeral services for Richard A. Allgood, 85, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the First Baptist Church, 2300 Swan Street, Silver City. Pastor Robert Brasier will officiate. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. Allgood died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008. He was born September 19, 1922 in Decatur, MS.

Allgood served in WWII as a signalman for the U. S. Navy and was allowed to take the controls of the T-38 Talon with Colonel Chuck Yeager and in 1963 was made a member of the Order of the Talon. After graduating from New Mexico State University in 1950 as a civil engineer, he was employed by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish and then worked for various engineering firms around the state until starting his own firm in 1967 in Gallup. Retiring in 1981 from Allgood, Sterling and Mataya he moved to Silver City where he enjoyed his retirement while staying busy and offering his engineering skills to redesign the Cliff-Gila County Fair Grounds water system. He was also appointed the State Game Commission by Governor Gary Carruthers. His hobbies include his love of the outdoors and hunting. He raised outstanding Brittany bird dogs and was quail hunting just previous to his death.

Survivors include his son, Lance Allgood of Gallup; daughter, Donna Comyford of Silver City; sister, Pat Beal of Las Cruces; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Allgood was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Lula (Russell) Allgood; wife Janie; former wife, Loyce; brother, Loris Russell Allgood; sisters, Angeleen Merritt, Lazell Robinson.

Pallbearers for Mr. Allgood will be Bob Comyford; Denton Comyford; Lance Allgood; Russell White; Richard White and Aron Phillips. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 2300 Swan Street, Silver City, NM 88061 or the charity of your choice.

He married twice. He married Loyce Audene Glass December 1947 in New Mexico. Loyce was born November 19, 1926 in Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co., NM. Loyce was the daughter of Ira Martin Glass and Nora Malone. Loyce died November 17, 2004 in Silver City, Grant Co., NM. Obit: Loyce Audene Allgood 77 of Las Cruces and previous resident of Silver City and Gallup entered eternal rest Wednesday November 17, 2004 at Silver City Care Center. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday November 20, 2004 at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, NM with Dr. Robert Donohue officiating. Mrs. Allgood was born November 19, 1926 in Las Cruces, NM. She was the daughter of Ira Martin and Nora (Malone) Glass. She is survived by her ex-husband Richard Allgood of Silver City; her daughter Donna Comyford and her husband Robert of Silver City; son Lance Allgood and his wife Kerri of Gallup, NM; three grandchildren Haddy Phillips and her husband Aron of Hurley; Calie Comyford and Denton Comyford both of Silver City; great-grandson Rylyn Phillips and lifetime childhood friend Geri Reeves of Safford. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Robert and Vernon Glass and one sister Joana Krivokapich. During World War II Mrs. Allgood was a parachute packer in Deming, NM. She became the first secretary for the New Mexico Farm Bureau Association and later a bookkeeper/secretary. She enjoyed many hobbies, painting, creative crafts, gardening, turkey hunting and the great outdoors were some of her favorites. Mrs. Allgood also enjoyed playing bridge and trips to Laughlin, NV with cousin "Pickle" Dill and lifetime friends Ethel Denny and Geri Reeves. While in Silver City, she was an active member in the Grant County Extension Clubs. She too immensely joyed in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved pet Crissy. Mrs. Allgood was very much loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed. Donations to your favorite charity of choice in lieu of flowers. He married Rebecca Jane Ewalt 1994 in NM. Rebecca was born May 26, 1924 in Alameda Co., CA. Rebecca was the daughter of (____) Ewalt and (____) Delano. Rebecca died July 13, 2001 in Silver City, Grant Co., NM.
