She married Samuel H. Sewell May 1, 1844 in Meriwether Co. GA. Samuel lived in Hopkins Co., in 1860 and Madison Co., in 1870. In the 1870 census it showed that James and Jacob were still liviing in the household. Their sisters, if still living were outside the home.

Samuel was born 1815 in Madison Co., GA. Samuel was the son of Nicholas Sewell and Martha (Patsy) Christian. Samuel died September 14,1867 in TX. Samuel and Mary had 2 sons and 2 daughters who lived in the West.

Brigh t Star and 1860 Mortality Schedule for Mary Swell 34 b. in Georg ia D. Dec 1859 and Mary Sewell age five months b. Texas d. April 1860.
