Robert died March 6, 2016 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co, AL. OBIT: Allgood, Robert Cecil, Jr., Lt. Col., USAF Ret., 63, of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016. He was a 1976 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned into the USAF. He received his Master's Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1983. He retired from the USAF in 2004 and continued working with the USAF as a contractor until 2006. He then worked for the State of Alabama from 2006 until 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cecil Allgood and Evelyn Lucille Harrison Allgood.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Jean Barth Allgood, Montgomery, AL; two sons, Timothy Jason Allgood, Montgomery, AL; Michael David Allgood (Sydney), Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Rebecca Ann Allgood Caron (Lt. Owen), Biloxi, MS; granddaughter, Sophia Faith Allgood; sisters, Peggy Dianne Wasiljov (Edward), Grove City, OH; Rhonda Sue Montagna (Samuel) King George, VA; a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 with Rev. Daniel Atkins and Rev. Dean Finch officiating. Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery.

According to Cecil, his father, Bob was interested in the space program, so much so, that he wanted his room painted a sky blue where he hung planes and spacecraft in the ceiling.Knowing that it required a good education to get to where he was going, he did well enough in school to qualify. Finishing High School he began his studies at Anne Arundel Community College. He also took the PLC program offered by the Marine Corps that led to pilot training. While enrolled in the program, he made apllication to the Service Academies. Congressman Mills of Maryland appointed him to the US Army Academy at West Point. He was accepted and graduated, Class of 76. Commisssioned nto the USAF a Second Lieutenant. At this time he married his girl friend of over four years, Shirly Barth, of Severna Park, MD. He was sent to Texas for Flight Training. Here his blood pressure incresed to a point that disqualified him from the Space Flight and he became a Communications Officer and was assigned to Langley AFB, VA. He then selected to attend the US Navy school at Monterey, CA for his Masters Degree in Communications. Graduating from there he was assigned to the CINCPAC Commander in Hawaii where he served on his staff and received citations for his work there. His next assignment was to NSA Ft. Meade, MD. Remaining in Joint Services he was assigned to Struttart, Germany. He was next assigned to Gunter AFB, AL where he now serves.
