Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Village Chapel Funeral Home for Florence Ovell Gaskey, 82, Gadsden, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003. The Revs. Artis Decker and Lucillie Denny will officiate. Burial in Forrest Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Gaskey was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Gaskey; daughters, Patricia Lee Gaskey and Martha Burks; and son, Randy Gaskey.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Buford) Pruitt, Reece City, Roy (Lawanda) Gaskey, Cullman, Reta (Bobby) Wilbanks, Rainsville, Judy Hagan, Centre, Brenda Prater, Arkansas, Louise Bowden, Georgia, Lanny (Denise) Gaskey, Gadsden, and Danny (Teresa) Gaskey, Southside; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Higgonbotham, Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Wilbanks, Curtis Fail, Donnie Wright, David Gaskey, Adam Woods, Richard Hagan, Teddy Hagan and Scotty Burks.
A very special thanks to Coosa Valley Healthcare, fifth-floor nurses and staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center, Dr. Debora Reiland, Dr. Hwang and Dr. Amin.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
He married Effie Euline Beason 1921 in Rome, Tallapoosa Co., AL. Effie was born October 23, 1902 in St Clair Co., AL. Effie was the daughter of William Curtis Beason and Mary Frances Awtrey. Effie died December 1977 in Alexandria, Rapides Parrish, LA.
