8302. Henry Pierce8 Allgood (John William7, John Edward6, John W.5, Holwell Edward4, John Young3, William2 Algood, Edward1 Allgood) was born in Kennesaw, GA October 5, 1918. Henry died July 24, 2008 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: Pierce was born October 5, 1918 in Kennesaw, GA to Martha Olive Sauls and John William Allgood, a master farmer. He was raised on the family dairy farm on Allgood Road in Marietta. He enjoyed telling childhood stories of life on the farm, especially driving the milk truck on its daily route from the time he was twelve. He loved spending time with his cousins at camp meeting each August at the Marietta Campground. Dr. Allgood, an Eagle Scout and 4-H member, attended Marietta High School and was named "Mr. Marietta High". He continued his studies at Emory University and Emory Medical School. During his time at Emory, Pierce met his wife, Martha Arant of Birmingham, AL a student at Agnes Scott College. During the Korean War, he served his country as a doctor in the US Army. He completed his surgical internship at Piedmont and Grady hospitals and his residency at the Shriner's Children's' Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Allgood was passionate about his orthopedic practices at Piedmont and Kennestone Hospitals. He was dedicated to his patients, often accepting bushels of corn or baskets of tomatoes as payment. In his free-time, he could be found chopping wood or tending his garden. His respite during the peak of his practice was 'the family houseboat on Lake Lanier. Some of his best friendships came through his associations with Sigma Chi Fraternity, Piedmont Hospital, Emory, the University Yacht Club, Brookwood Rotary Club, Cherokee Club and Trinity Presbyterian Church. Dr. Allgood and Martha were married for over 40 years until her death in 1984. He met his wife Lu Seigler Haverty of Augusta Ga. at Trinity and was married to her for over 20 years.

Dr. Allgood was predeceased by his wife Martha and daughter Lyn.

He is survived by Lu, sons Michael (Jody Williams) and Philip (grandchildren Carter and Martha (Patrick Hastings)), daughter Susan Heberton (George and grandsons Grant, Sam and Jack), and stepchildren Kathy, Dusty (grandson Michael), and Lisa Haverty (Jim Withers).

His family and friends will retell his stories and share their love for "Chief" for years to come. He was the best!

A graveside service will be held Friday August 1, 2008 at 10:00 am at Marietta Methodist Campground Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 1st at 2:00pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3003 Howell Mill Rd. Atlanta 30327.

He married twice. He married Martha Arant 1944. Martha was born April 29, 1921. Martha died April 28, 1984.

He married Lu Seigler Haverty 1988.

19158 iii. Michael Pierce Allgood was born 1952. Michael died January 13, 2014 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: ALLGOOD, Michael Michael Pierce Allgood died January 13, 2014 at the age of 62. He was predeceased by his father Dr. Pierce Allgood, mother Martha Arant Allgood, and sister Lyn Allgood. He is survived by his wife Jody Williams Allgood, step-mother Mrs. Lu Allgood, brother Philip Arant Allgood, sister Susan Allgood Heberton (George), niece Martha Allgood Hastings (Patrick), nephews Carter Allgood, Grant Herberton (Meghan), Sam Heberton (Jessica), Jack Heberton and great nephew Pierce Hastings. Michael graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College and the Georgia State University College of Law. His career included service with the Department of the Army and the Department of Labor. He was a past president of the Phi Delta Phi Province 9 legal fraternity, past president of the Georgia Canine Coalition, and member of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of Greater Atlanta. -

19159 iv. Martha Evelyn (Lyn) Allgood was born 1961. Martha died January 17, 2006 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: Martha Evelyn (Lyn) Allgood, age 50, of Atlanta, died of natural causes on January 17, 2006. She was a talented artist, journalist and woman. She was born to Dr. Pierce Allgood and the former Martha Arant Allgood of Birmingham, Alabama. Lyn graduated from Westminister, the University of Georgia, member Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She worked at Trust Company Bank and later staff writer for the Atlanta Business Chronicle. She volunteered at Skyland Trail. Survived by father, Dr. Pierce Allgood and stepmother, Mrs. Lu Allgood; brother, Michael (wife, Jody) Allgood; brother, Philip Allgood and his children, Carter and Martha; siter, Susan (husband, George) Herberton and children, Grant, Sam and Jack. Memorial service to be held 11:00 AM on Monday, January 23 at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
