He married Eliza Jane Comstock March 15, 1855 in Cedar, Mahaska Co., IA. Eliza was born September 11, 1837 in Kosciusko Co., IN. Eliza was the daughter of James T. Comstock and Sarah Wilkins. Eliza died January 19, 1919 in Mahaska Co., IA. Eliza was buried in the Wymore Cemetery, Mahaska Co., IA At the age of 5, Eliza was kidnapped by Indians in Iowa. They had Eliza in a canoe and were crossing the S. Skunk River when the Comstock family caught up with them and rescured her. John was born in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and came to Iowa by way of an oxen drawn covered wagon in 1847, with his parents. He was accompanied by eleven other brothers and sisters..
