born in Lacey, Mahaska Co., IA October 30, 1910. Howard died February 5, 1994 in Sigourney, Keokuk Co., IA.
He married Majel Avis Wyatt November 30, 1942 in Unionville, Putnam Co., MO. Majel was born
October 11, 1911 in San Bruno, San Mateo Co., CA. Majel was the daughter of Harry Wyatt and Clara (____). Majel
died November 9, 1993 in Sigourney, Keokuk Co., IA. Majel graduated from Somers High School and also graduated for the Iowa State
Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. During World War 2, she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and later for the Bureau of
Defective Bonds in Chicago. She was a wonderful elementary school teacher. She taught in the following towns in IA - Beacon, Greenville,
Rossi, and Vinton. Majel and Howard enjoyed growing pretty flowers everywhere they live. They enjoyed and spoiled their
grandchildren. They took them to points of interest and amusement parks in the Midwest. In 1969, Howard and Majel bought his Uncle George
and Aunt Margaret Crane's acreage in Howard's hometown of What Cheer IA. They lived there until health problems forced them to move to the
Sigourney Care Center. Howard Raymond graduated from What Cheer High School, What Cheer, IA where he enjoyed playing football.
In June of 1942, he joined the U. S. Army. In December of 1942 he graduated from Bakers and Cooks School at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He served
in the European Theater as a Mess Sergeant and was discharged in 1945. While home on leave November 30, 1942 he and Majel were married. He
was a farmer, employed as a houseparent at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School, and also worked at the University Of Iowa from 1970
until retirement in 1986.
