Viness was the son of James Thomas Kelso and Mary Helen Laughlin. Viness died 1930 in Falls City, Richardson Co., NE. She married Marion Cook January 11, 1898 in Mahaska Co., IA. Marion was born August 15, 1873 in Leon, Decatur Co., IA. Marion died January 15, 1955 in Atlantic, Cass Co., IA. Marion was buried in the Atlantic Cemetery.
