OBIT: James Howard Cozad, 90, of Albia, Iowa died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, Iowa, Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Oakview
Cemetery in Albia. He was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Foster to Walter O. and Grace V. (Sage) Cozad. He married Nellie Barnett, and she preceded
him in death. He was retired from the maintenance department of Banker's Life Co. in Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoyed all kinds of
sports, especially football, wintering in Arizona with his church friends and dear friend of many years, Armilda Caraway. He is
survived by two daughters, Mary Gilbert and her husband Gil of Santa Clara, Calif., and Marilyn; six grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Betty Reno and Jerri Speilman, both of Chicago, Ill., and Marjorie Briles and Edna Fanta, both of
Albia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nellie; five brothers, Roy, William, Lester, Donald, and Floyd Cozad;
and six sisters, Eunice Mangello, Martha Malone, Louise Shipman, and Bernice, Barbara, and Marcella as infants. Visitation
opened after 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made to help defray funeral expenses to his daughter, Mary Gilbert, 2810 Ruth Court, Santa Clara CA
95051.
He married twice. He married Nellie Barnett. Nellie was born May 19, 1918. Nellie died
February 1, 1996 in Albia, Monroe Co., IA.
