He married Sallie Jane Mitchell December 24, 1944 in Winston Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. Sallie was born March 25, 1916 in Iredell Co., NC. Sallie was the daughter of James Mitchell and Viola Rash. Sallie died February 4, 2014 in High Point, Guilford Co., NC. OBIT: Mrs. Sallie Mitchell Allgood, 97, of High Point died Tuesday, February 04, 2014 at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Allgood, daughter of James and Viola Rash Mitchell, was born March 25, 1916 in Iredell County.

She graduated from Union Grove High School and married Rev. J.D. Allgood, Jr., in 1944. Rev. and Mrs. Allgood served the Redbank Baptist Church in Germanton for ten years and East Grimes Chapel in High Point for over 22 years. Mrs. Allgood was active in WMU, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She also worked in 20 Vacation Bible Schools and taught the Laubach Literacy Course. Mrs. Allgood was a member of Green Street Baptist Church and a member of the Helen Bowman Sunday School Class. One of her blessings was working in the 24-hour Prayer Room at Green Street Baptist Church. Also, she was blessed by being a member of the Widows Might Prayer Ministry sponsored by GuideStone of the Southern Baptist Convention.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. J.D. Allgood Jr. and one sister, Delia Mae Holland.

Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Hassell and husband, Calvin of High Point; two granddaughters, Michelle Stone and husband, Stan of Laurens, SC and Jennifer Vaught and husband, Shane of Archdale; three great-granddaughters, Chesney Grace, Sallie Frances and Elizabeth Parker Stone of Laurens, SC: two great-grandsons, Samuel Chase and Haden James Vaught of Archdale; a niece, Ramona Golden and husband, Clark of Lewisville; two nephews, Medford Holland of Statesville and James Holland and wife, Saundra of Olin; and one cousin, Gerry White of Statesville.

A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Green Street Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating. A visitation will be in the foyer one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston-Salem.
