Carney died March 17, 2010 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC. OBIT: Mr. Carney W. Allgood Sr., 84, of Greensboro, departed from this life on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, March 15, 2010, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.

Born in Forsyth County to the late John and Bessie Allgood Sr., Carney was a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from AT&T, previously known as Western Electric. He loved RV travel and was a member of the WBCCI. He and his wife visited every state in the U.S., along with visiting all of the Canadian providences and the two territories. Carney was an avid NASCAR fan and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.

In addition to his parents, Carney was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Helen W. Allgood, who passed away just this past February 26, 2010, and his brother, J. D. Allgood Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Geraldine Harrell and her husband Charles of Charlotte, Carney W. Allgood Jr. of Greensboro, and Yvonne Allgood of Charlotte; and a grandson, David Ross.

He married Helen Louise Warner January 17, 1947 in York, SC. Helen was born January 2, 1929 in Stokes Co., NC. Helen was the daughter of William Warner and Nonnie James. Helen died February 26, 2010 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC. OBIT: Mrs. Helen W. Allgood, 81, departed from this life on Friday, February 26, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

Born in Stokes County, to the late William "Fletch" Warner and Nonnie James Warner, Helen was a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. She retired from AT&T, previously known as Western Electric. She loved to RV travel and a member of the WBCCI. She and her husband visited every state in the US, along with visiting all of the Canadian providences and the two territories. Helen was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending uncountable hours in her yard. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Warner.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Carney W. Allgood, Sr., of the home; children, Geraldine Harrell and husband Charles of Charlotte, Carney W. Allgood, Jr., of Greensboro, and Yvonne Allgood of Charlotte; and grandson, David Ross.
