He married Lela Nellie Ellington October 7, 1930 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Lela was born September 1, 1911 in Yale, Payne Co., OK. Lela was the daughter of T. J. Ellington and Pearl Ballinger. Lela died September 27, 2002 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Obit: Lela Nellie Boyd, 91, of Stillwater, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at her residence. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Strode Funeral Chapel. Pastor J.B. Bond will officiate. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, southwest of Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the services. She was born Sept. 1, 1911, near Yale, to T.J. and Pearl (Ballinger) Ellington. She married Leo George Boyd Oct. 7, 1930, in Stillwater. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1988. She attended Battle Ridge and Brockman schools in Payne County through eighth grade. She lived on the family farm until her marriage to Leo. She and her husband lived in Payne County where they farmed until she moved to Stillwater in 1996. While on the farm, she raised chickens and sold eggs to the Stillwater Hatchery and she also raised a large garden. She was very artistic, liked music and enjoyed sewing. She knew the importance of education and made sure her children were educated, and she enjoyed learning alongside them while they were in school. She attended Countryside Baptist Church and was a member of the Eureka Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson, Steven Clary. She is survived by four daughters, Vona Parrish, Ina Faye Clary, Ona Childers and her husband, Keith and Betty Boyd, all of Stillwater; two sons, Forrest and wife Mary Joyce of Cleveland and Laurence of Sand Springs; nine grandchildren, Lisa Tanner, Kendall Boyd, Donnie, Beverly, Dennis and Roberta Clary, Lorna Miller, Brenda Bullard and Brian Childers; and four sisters, Thelma Stocker of Pawnee, Beula Flager and her husband, Claud, of Stillwater, Neva Roark of Blackwell and Erma McBrain of Blackwell.
