Nina died April 8, 2006 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Obit: Nina Lucy (Boyd) McLemore, 90, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at her home in Ripley.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Aaron Cole will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater under the direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

McLemore was born Sept. 15, 1915, in the IXL Community near Perkins to George and Leona Boyd. She grew up and attended school in and near the IXL Community, before she and her family moved to the rural area outside of Perry.

While living in the Perry area, she married Sylvester A. “Sid” McLemore on July 24, 1934. The family continued to live in the Perry area and then moved to Stillwater for the next five years.

The family then moved to Claremore, where she worked as a nurse at Claremore Health Center until her retirement in the mid-1980s. The couple moved back to Stillwater in 1990 and continued to live there for the remainder of their lives. Her husband died in March 2005.

McLemore loved to garden and can the vegetables and fruits as well as sharing them with friends and neighbors. She loved flowers, especially yellow roses. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. It was important for her to feed anyone who stopped by for a visit. She always gave jelly and jams to everyone who came by her home.

She composed and had copyrighted 12 gospel songs.

Her favorite pastime was reminiscing about her childhood. She would talk about working in the cotton and hay fields, her neighbors and the entertainment that they enjoyed.

She also loved her Lord with all of her heart. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Stillwater.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; one brother, Leo G. Boyd; and one sister, Lora (Boyd) Robinson.

Survivors include three sons, Eldon McLemore and wife Ann of Perry, Kan., Darrell McLemore and wife Virginia of Avondale, Ariz., and Verl “Dave” McLemore and wife Kaye of Stillwater; one daughter, Vesta (McLemore) Axtell and husband Jim of Ripley; one sister, Esther Smith and husband Bill of Perry; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie McLemore of Seagoville, Texas, Roxie McLemore of Enid and Marcella McLemore of Oceanside, Calif.; one brother-in-law, William A. “Bill” Smith; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends.

She married Sylvester Addison McLemore July 24, 1934 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Sylvester was born September 25, 1911 in Maude, Seminole Co., OK. Sylvester was the son of Andrew McLemore and Cynthia Pitts. Sylvester died March 27, 2005 in Stillwater, Payne Co., OK. Obit: Sylvester (Mac) McLemore, 93, of Stillwater, died Sunday, March 27, 3005, at his home in Stillwater.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Assembly of God Church in Stillwater. The Rev. Aaron Cole will preside. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, south of Stillwater.

Services have been entrusted to the Palmer and Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.

He was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Maud, to Andrew and Cynthia E. (Pitts) McLemore. He married Nina (Lucy) Boyd July 24, 1934, in Stillwater. They lived in Perry until 1955, in Stillwater until 1961 and moved to Claremore and lived prior to returning to Stillwater to live in 1990.

He worked at a creamery; he also worked for Railway Express and as a brakeman in trains. He worked for Santa Fe and Frisco during WW II. He worked for the Wichita Beacon as circulation manager, Perry Daily Journal as circulation manager, was pastor of the Church of God in Perry, was district circulation manager for the northeast part of Oklahoma and southeast Kansas for the Tulsa World and Tribune. He was a minister for over 30 years.

He enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed directing and singing gospel music, loved reading the Bible and praying.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and seven brothers.

Survivors include his wife of the home, three sons, Eldon M. McLemore and wife, Ann, of Oskaloosa, Kan., Darrell E. McLemore and wife, Virginia, of Avondale, Ariz. and Verl (Dave) McLemore and wife, Kaye, of Stillwater; one daughter, Vesta L. Axtell and husband, Jim, of Ripley; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie McLemore of Seagoville, Texas, Roxie McLemore of Enid and Marcella McLemore of Oceanside, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gene McLemore, Tim McLemore, Shawn McLemore, Scott McLemore, Steve Axtell and Jimmy Axtell. Honorary pallbearers will be Lori Carpenter, Eldonna Deer, Dana Minsin, Melissa Day and Jolena Lal.

The family asks that memorials be made to either the First Assembly of God Church in Stillwater or to Judith Karman Hospice in Stillwater.

Nina Lucy Boyd and Sylvester Addison McLemore had the following children:
