John died September 17,2006 in Perrysville, Vermillion Co., IN. OBIT: John V. Bean, 84, Perrysville, Ind passed away at 5 pm Sunday, September 17, 2006 at his home.

He was born January 15, 1922 in Tangier, Ind the son of the late John William and Clara Belle Gilkerson Bean. Also preceding him in death are five sisters and two brothers.

John married Dorene Wakeland on April 27, 1944 in Rockville, Ind and she survives. Also surviving are two sons: Dwayne Bean of Perrysville, Richard (Lynn) Bean of Dana, Ind, a daughter, Diana (Steve) Rumple of Brownsburg, Ind; five grandsons: Brett (Stephanie) Bean of Mahomet, Ill, Scott (Amy) Bean of Columbia City, Ind, John (Melanie) Bean of Dana, Ind, Sean Rumple and Chase Rumple both of Brownsburg, Ind; three great-grandson: Alec and Andrew Bean of Mahomet and Gavin Bean of Dana.

John worked for many years on the railroad, retiring from the Norfolk & Western in 1983. He enjoyed his dogs, being with his friends but most of all being with his family.

Services: 2 pm EDT, Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga, Ind Officiating: Rev. William Nickle Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery, Perrysville, Ind Visitation: 4 to 8 pm EDT Tuesday (September 19) at the funeral home.

John Vernon Bean and Dorene Wakeland had the following children:
