17099. James (Jim) Roy8 Blacketter (JR) (James Roy7, James Roy6, John A.5, Wesley M4 Blackketter, Elizabeth (Betsy)3 Allgood, Ishmael2, Edward1) was born in Carlton Co., MN March 16, 1936. James died December 1986 in Sawyer, Carlton Co., MN. OBIT: Jim Blacketter, Jr. 1936 - 1999, 62, Sawyer, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999 at his residence. He was born on March 17, 1936 in Sawyer to the late Jim Sr. and Lillian (Pequette) Blacketter.
He was a night watchman for the Sawyer Community Center and a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Roger and Charles and one sister, Joyce.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; five sons, David Boyd of McGregor, Jim Blacketter, Kris Blacketter and Matthew Blacketter, all of Sawyer and Brad (Melanie Rabideaux) Blacketter of Cloquet; three daughters, Melinda Blacketter, Shirley Blacketter and Cindy Blacketter, all of Sawyer; two brothers, Daryold and Bruce (Mary Ann), both of Sawyer; two sisters, Sylvia Smith and Alvina Tiessen, both of Sawyer; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Sawyer Community Center and continued until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, also at the Sawyer Community Center with Rev. Bill Sutter officiating. Interment services followed at the Sawyer Cemetery. Pallbearers were William "Bill" Wise, Randy Wise, Dave Tiessen, Glen Tiessen, Dan Tiessen and Sonny Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Nahgahnub, Donald Nahgahnub, Jeff Northrup, Dave Hilton and Melvin King. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet.
He married Mary Ann Nahgahnub. Mary was born February 27, 1942. Mary died April 4, 1999. Mary Ann was buried in the Saint Mary & Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Sawyer, Carlton Co., MN In 1930 James and his mother, who had remarried lived with Susan and her husband
