Leo died July 21, 2006 in Watertown, Carver Co., MN. OBIT: Leo James Blackketter, age 73, of Watertown, died peacefully Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Elim Home in Watertown.

He was born Feb. 1, 1933 to Archie and Grace (Campbell) Blackketter in Hollywood Township.

Leo was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

He was employed by Culligan, in the water service business, for 40 years.

Leo was a veteran, serving in the Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Watertown American Legion.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Grace Blackketter; his brother, Ed Blackketter; and a sister-in-law, Georgia Blackketter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Luverne; sons Al and Pam Blackketter, Tony Blackketter, and Jim Blackketter; daughters Kathy and Butch Darsow, Giny and Mark Karels, Nancy and Mike Harding, Donna and Kenny Pearson, and Chris and Kevin Pearson; 21 grandchildren: Jason, Jessi, Emily, Lori, Matt, Joe, Scott, Dan, Gianna, Hugo, Samantha, Jeremy, Josh, Shauna, Zack, Nathan, Derrick, Nick, Jonathan, Dillon, and Megan; and three great-grandchildren: Blake, Riley, and Katie.

Leo is further survived by a brother, Donald and Lonnie Blackketter; sister-in-law Joanne and John Cebulla; uncle George and Dorothy Campbell; sisters and brother-in-law Walt and Irene Swartzer, Marguerite Swartzer, Lorraine and Emmett Lynch, Betty and Louie Bury, Joe and Dorothy Swartzer, Rosemary Swartzer, Bob and Mary Lynn Swartzer, Marion Kuka, Marvin and Laurie Swartzer, Susan and Ed Windsperger, Tony and Sandy Swartzer, Gene and Mary Helen Swartzer, Ervin and Renee Swartzer, and Pete and Alice Swartzer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, July 25 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Frank Wampach officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Watertown American Legion Eugene Early Post 121.

Casket bearers were Jason Karels, Matt Blackketter, Joe Blackketter, Hugo Karels, Jeremy Harding, Josh Harding, Nathan Pearson, and Nick Millerbernd. Honorary bearers were Jessi Karels, Emily Darsow, Lori Blackketter, Scott Blackketter, Dan Blackketter, Gianna Karels, Samantha Karels, Shauna Harding. Zack Harding, Derrick Pearson, Jonathan Pearson, Dillon Pearson, and Megan Pearson.

He married Luverne Susan Swartzer June 25, 1955. Luverne was born May 4, 1934 in Woodland, Wright Co., MN. Luverne was the daughter of George Swartzer and Susan Gallus. Luverne died December 23, 2020 in Delano, Carver Co., MN.
