OBIT: Ruth Erlene Barnes Nichols, age 84, of Cornelia, Georgia, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at her residence. She was born September 29, 1922 in Polk County, the daughter of the late Mr. Carey Watson Barnes and Mrs. Ella Verdell Allgood Barnes. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Grady Nichols, Jr.; daughter, Margaret Diane Bartlett; son, Robert Jerry Nichols; and sisters, Johnnie Faye Johnson and Billie Carolyn Rodgers. Survivors include a sister, Mary Jo Ballard of Cedartown; a foster daughter, Thelma Haisten; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Erlene Nichols will be conducted on Sunday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. The interment will follow in Northview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Gammage Funeral Home on Saturday, September 22, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also on Sunday, September 23 beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour, The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements

She married Henry Grady Nichols JR. Henry was born September 23, 1918. Henry was the son of Henry Grady NIchols and Katie Mae York. Henry died February 14, 2000 in Cedartown, Polk Co., GA. Obit; Henry Grady Nichols, 205 GreenView Court, Cedartown, died February 14, 2000. He was born in Polk County and a vertearn of World War II, and served 4 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Jerry Nichols and a daughter Margaret Diane Brantlett, parents Katie Mae York and Henry Grady Nichols SR. He is survied by his wife Ruth Barnes Nichols, two sisters, Virginia Mullinax and Mrs Becky Rhinehart, both of Cedartown, two brothers Don Nichols and Jackie Nichols, both of Cedartown, one foster child, Mrs Thelma Haisten, seven grancchildren and eleven great-grandchldren. Funeral service was conducted at 11 a. m. Wednesday Februaty 16 in the chapel of Gammage Funeral Home the the Rev Regionald Campbell officiating. Intenment follwed in the Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth NIchols, Bill Bratlett, Brad Bratlett, Ray Goode, Daniel Parker, Allen Rhinehart.
