Funeral services were Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Henry David “H.D.” Bowling, age 95, of Rainbow City, who died on Friday, October 31, 2003. The Revs. Bob Luker and Bobby Joe Willingham officiated. Burial was at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler funeral home directed.

Mr. Bowling was a native of Tallapoosa, Georgia. He was a member and deacon of McEntyre Baptist Church. He was a barber for 71 years and also ran the H.D. Bowling and Joyce Bowling.

Mr. Bowling is survived by his loving wife, Katherine W. Bowling; children, Michael Bowling and Joyce Bowling.

Mr. Bowling is survived by his brother, Bobby Bowling; sisters, Virginia Osbourn and Myrtle Watson; sister in law, Nettie Jones; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were J.D. Robinson, Jim Rogers, Doyle Nunn, David Jester, William Franklin, Tommy Muntz and Drew Keenum.

Honorary pallbearers were his caregivers, Ronnie and Susie Isbell, Belinda Smith and Alma Hill. A very special thanks to Heather, David and Kathline Jester and Bill Jones.

He married Katherine Whisnant. Katherine was born November 20, 1914. Katherine was the daughter of Grover C. Whisnant and Dena (___). Katherine died August 19, 2001 in Rainbow City, Etowah Co., AL.

Henry David Bowling and Katherine Whisnant had the following children:

36404 i. Michael¹⁰ Bowling was born in Korea abt 1948. An adopted Korean baby. Michael died abt 1966 in St Clair Co., AL. Killed in an auto accident while young.

36405 ii. Joyce Bowling was born in Korea abt 1949. An adopted Korean baby.
