Lawrence died March 23, 2017 in Burlington, Alamance Co., NC. OBIT: Lawrence Wheeler Allgood, 77, of Liberty, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at A Touch of Country Family Care in Burlington.

Larry was born on March 3, 1940 in Laurinburg, the son of Lawrence Wheeler Allgood and Frances McCormick Allgood.

In 1958, he graduated from Laurinburg High School where he exceled in football and basketball as well as baseball. He was a 1962 graduate of Wake Forest University where he developed his love of golf which remained throughout his life. Following his graduation, he joined the United States Army for a two-year tenure during which time he became a 1st Lieutenant.

After his discharge, he was employed by the Draperies Division of Burlington Industries for 35 years during which time he served as a Plant Personnel Manager for the Reidsville Drapery Plant. His longest service was as Division Personnel Manager for the Draperies Division. He was always known for his honesty in dealing with fellow employees and his keen sense of humor.

Upon retiring, he and his wife purchased a small farm in Randolph County where he enjoyed the outdoors, the animals, and 'tinkering' with his tractor.

He is survived by his wife Steva Roark Allgood, a daughter Frances Allgood Peters, a granddaughter Ella Nicole Peters, a grandson Cooper Myles Peters, and preceded by his son Thomas Wheeler Allgood.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 6 at Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg.

He married twice. He married Ann Malloy Grubbs. Ann was born June 12,1942 in Scotland Co., NC. Ann was the daughter of Thomas M Grubbs and Loreen G Hicks.

Lawrence Wheeler Allgood JR and Ann Malloy Grubbs had the following children:

26540 ii. Thomas Wheeler Allgood was born in Scotland Co., NC September 11, 1970. Thomas died December 20, 2015 in Stokesdale, NC. OBIT: Thomas Wheeler Allgood, 45, died Sunday, December 20, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Forbis & Dick-Guilford Chapel. Mr. Allgood was born September 11, 1970 in Laurinburg, NC to Ann Grubbs Allgood and Lawrence Wheeler Allgood. He worked for Hardscapes Landscaping. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Fran Peters, and husband Myles, their children Ella and Cooper, dear friend Janice Smith along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
