He married Julia Ann Abernathy July 4, 1910. Julia was born March 11, 1888 in Bollinger Co., MO. Bollinger County birth register has birth year as 1887. Julia was the daughter of Matthew M. Abernathy and Barbara Elminia Eaker.

Julia died March 26, 1971 in Scott Co., MO. OBIT: Mrs. Grover Allgood, 83 years old, a lifelong resident of Lutesville, died March 26 in the General Hospital in Chaffee, where she had been a patient for a week. Mrs. Allgood, the former Julia Ann Abernathy, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Abernathy. She was born March 11, 1888 at Lutesville, MO. She and Mr. Allgood were married July 4, 1910. Mrs. Allgood is survived by her husband; one son, Waldo Allgood of Lutesville; a brother B.F. Abernathy of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday at Baker Funeral Home in Lutesville, with Rev. Marshall Page officiating. Burial was in Baker Cemetery.
