James died February 4, 2004 in Fort Pierce, Saint Lucie Co., FL. Obit: James H. Ashburn Sr., 81, died Feb. 4, 2004, in Port St. Lucie.

Mr. Ashburn was born in Moline, Ill., and was a resident of Fort Pierce for 47 years, coming from Greensboro, N.C.

Prior to retirement, he was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict.

Mr. Ashburn was a member of the BPOE 1520 Elks Club and the American Legion Post 40, both of Fort Pierce, and a charter member of Indian River Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mollie Ashburn of Fort Pierce; sons Roy and Henry Ashburn, both of Fort Pierce; daughter Sarah Welch of Fort Pierce; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
