Young died March 12, 2015 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: Young W. Allgood, 95, passed away March 12th. Born in Atlanta in 1919, Young was a long-time resident of Howey-in-the-Hills. He retired from the Southern Railroad in 1984, where he had a lengthy career in Atlanta, starting as a fireman and retiring as an engineer. During WWII, he proudly served in the US Navy as a Seabee, spending several years in active battle in Guam. Predeceased by his wife Nell, he leaves two daughters- Lynda A. Childs, a resident of Howey, and Mona Dunn, a resident of Chamblee, Georgia. In addition, he has 2 grandchildren- Jack McLemore of Texas and Rebecca Sharp of Chamblee, Ga. and is predeceased by another grandson Scotty Dunn. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, Garrett McLemore and Carli McLemore both residents of Texas. During his retirement years in Howey, Young was a past member of the Sessions at the Howey Community Church, and a member of the Howey Men's Club. An avid outdoorsman, he frequently plied the waters of Central Florida in quest of illusive fish and enjoyed playing golf with a special group of Howey buddies, usually followed by a group meeting of the "Tee Club." Young's ashes will be interred next to Nell, in the Howey Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Howey Community Church on Tuesday, April 7th, 1:00 pm.
He married twice. He married Vivian Wanell (Nell) Short. Vivian was born September 27, 1917. Vivian was the daughter of Charles Hadden Short and Jenette Pitman. Vivian died September 3, 1996 in Honey in the Hills, FL. Vivian was buried in the Taylor Memorial Cemetary, Howey in the Hills, Fl ,
