Cecil died October 14, 2007 in Rockdale Co., GA. Obit: Cecil Thomas Allgood, Sr. passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Rockdale Medical Center. Born March 10, 1917 in Walton County, Mr. Allgood was the son of the late Etta Wiley and Carl Samuel Allgood. He grew up and lived in Walton and Newton Counties for 61 years before moving to Conyers 29 years ago. He owned and operated Cecil T. Allgood, Gulf Oil Distributorship until his retirement in 1983. His love of nature was apparent in his choice of hobbies: gardening, fishing, camping, or just rocking on his screen porch were his favorites. He also spent hours in his workshop building bird houses, bird feeders, wind chimes, "wonder" boxes, porch swings, and much more. Samples of his work are being enjoyed by friends and neighbors all over Georgia. He was actively involved in Scouting for many years, one of the highlights of those years being a trip to Philmont in New Mexico. He volunteered with the Georgia Wildlife Federation donating both time and countless bird houses, bird feeders, benches for nature trails and much more. He was a charter member of the Oxford Lions Club. He served on the Board for the Conyers Rockdale Library and helped start Friends of the Library. He was a member of Conyers First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Joyce Byrd Allgood of Conyers; son, Cecil Thomas Allgood, Jr. and his wife Myrtice Ann of Monroe; daughter, Mary Margaret Allgood Parker and her husband Chester of Augusta; grandchildren, Thomas Allgood and wife Amanda of Decatur; Betsy Allgood Hampson and husband Jason of Cartersville, Lanier Parker of Johns Creek and Brent Parker and wife Samantha of Washington; great grandchildren, Kate Allgood and Matthew Hampson; stepdaughter, Kathryn Ponder Martini and husband Eric and their son Christopher of Smyrna; stepson, Phillip Ponder of Atlanta; brothers and their wives, Luke and Ruth Allgood of Madison, Cary and Gloria Allgood of Oxford, Lorenzo and Runette Allgood of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Marguerite (Mrs. William Issac) Allgood of Bogart. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Oxford Historical Cemetery in Oxford Georgia at 2:00 p.m.

He married twice. He married Catherine Ozella Wynn. Catherine was born 1918. Catherine died 1990. Catherine was buried in Lot 218 of the Oxford Historical Cemetery in Oxford, Newton Co., Georgia
