William died November 1, 2006 in Quincy, Adams Co., IL. OBIT: William T. Blacketer, 88, of Sunset Home (formerly of 1120 So. 21st and RR #2, Canton, MO) died Wednesday, November 1 at 9:25 a.m. at the home. He was born May 25, 1918 in Rockport, IL, the son of Thomas Edward and Lula Hardy Blacketer. On June 18, 1938, he married Marjorie S. Schmidt in Louisiana, MO. She preceded him in death on February 22, 1991. Mr. Blacketer retired from Moorman Mfg. Co. where he worked for 30 years in the stock room. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Alesa Spangler and her husband Jeff, Quincy; Mrs. Judy Raithel and her husband Jim, Quincy; 4 grandchildren, Jeanette Goodapple & her husband Richard, Quincy; Joy Middendorf & her husband Chris, Quincy; Rhonda Greene & her husband Brennan, Tremont, IL; B. J. Spangler and his wife Angie, Quincy; 4 great-grandchildren, Brandon Epping and his wife Desiree, Quincy; Caleb, Joshua and Elijah Greene, Tremont, IL; 4 sisters, Lucy Hoskins, Rockport, IL; Marie Garner, New Port Richey, FL; Evelyn Garner, Hannibal, MO and Delores Blacketer, Quincy. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Earl "Gene" Blacketer. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 4, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Pastor Bryan Meado officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
He married Marjorie S. Schmidt June 18, 1938 in Louisiana, MO. Marjorie was born May 5, 1922. Marjorie died February 22, 1991 in Quincy, Adams Co., IL.
