OBIT: Services for John Herman "Bonnie" Allgood of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, at New Prospect Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 4-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mr. Allgood, 81, died Dec. 6, 2002, at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 2, 1921, to Leon Allgood and Mary Case Allgood. He was a retired cabinet maker with Central Millwork & Supply Company. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where he was a former music director and deacon. He was a veteran of WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, the Rev. James K. Allgood; his sisters, Clara Mae Smith, Marie Smith, Lucille Walker, Yvonne Allen and Kathryn McDavid; and his son-in-law, Charles Richard Thurman.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Louise Wallace Allgood of Brookhaven; his daughters, Myra Lynn Allgood Thurman of Brookhaven, Jean Allgood Stewart and husband Kenneth of Gillsburg, and Janet Allgood Smith and husband Mark of Madison; his sister, Edith Smith of Brookhaven; his sister-in-law, Gladys Allgood of Vaughn; his brother-in-law, Hollis Smith of Brookhaven; his grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Thurman and wife Kim of Clinton, Kelly Thurman of Brandon, Ryan Thurman and wife Amanda of Hattiesburg, Michelle Stewart Harvey and husband Gray of Central Asia, the Rev. Todd Stewart and wife Alisa of Louisburg, N.C., Holly Smith Bond and husband Jeremy of Madison, and Tiffany Smith Carver and husband Ryan of Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Tanner Thurman, Tori, Chloe, and Melea Harvey, Tyler Stewart and Alexis Carver; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060-0027, or International Mission Board Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions through New Prospect Baptist Church.

He married Mildred Louise Wallace 1943. Mildred was born March 27, 1924. Mildred was the daughter of Manuel Commadore . Wallace and Bertha Victoria McCaffrey. Mildred died March 30, 2018.
