Jerry died January 27, 1998 in Potosi, Washington Co., MO. OBIT: Jerry E. Akers, son of Willard and Lena (Fryman) Akers, was born April 25, 1938 in Chester, Illinois and passed away Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at Potosi, Missouri at the age of 59 years, 9 months and 2 days.

Jerry is survived by his parents, Lena and Willard Akers and fiancé, Shirley Nash, all of Viburnum, Missouri; five children: Scott Akers and fiancé Kerri Mills of St. Clair, Missouri; LaDonna Beckmeyer and husband Boyd of Linn Creek, Missouri; Tammy Warner and husband Stacy of DeSoto, Missouri; Jerilyn Cibulka and husband Patrick of Pacific, Missouri and D. J. Akers of Viburnum, Missouri; six grandchildren; Cayla, Kyle, Caitlin and Courtney Beckmeyer, Abigail Lynn Werner and Sean Patrick Cibulka. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services for Jerry E. Akers were held Saturday, January 31, 1998 at the Spencer Chapel in Viburnum with Pastor Jim Watson officiating. Special music was provided by Stanley Chandler with Johnny Setzer as organist. Serving as pallbearers were Lowell Puryear Albert Downs, Bob Kovis, Joe Keeler and Larry Brooks. Interment was in the Boss Cemetery with all arrangements under the direction of the Spencer Funeral Home of Salem.
