Ethel died November 7, 2006 in Brandenburg, Meade Co., KY. OBIT: Ethel Ann Wardrip, 82, Brandenburg, died Nov. 7, 2006. She was born April 29, 1924, in Mook, the daughter of the late Lillie G. and Irkes D. Allgood. She was a lifetime member of the American Trap Shooting Association. She was an avid genealogist and loved hunting, fishing and gardening. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy (Eskridge) Decker, and a sister, Eva Basham. Mrs. Wardrip is survived by her husband of 57 years, Howard F. Wardrip; two sisters, Sarah Ellen Blair and Katherine Patterson; two brothers, Jesse H. Allgood and Walter Allgood; six grandchildren, Sharon Singleton, Battletown, Terry Crosier, Laconia, Ind., Jane Wethington, Ekron, and Wendy Ashley, James Decker and David Decker, all of Brandenburg; eight great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and two great-great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held Nov. 10 at noon from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cap Anderson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Nov. 9 from 4-9 p.m. and Nov. 10 after 8:30 a.m.

She married twice. She married Herchel David Eskridge 1936. Herchel was born Februuary 16, 1922 in Breckinridge Co., KY. Herchel was the son of Dickson Baker Eskridge and Katie Ames. Herchel died June 15, 1941 in Breckinridge Co., KY. Herchel and Ethel are buried in the Kingswood Cemetery, Breckinridge Co., KY

She married Howard Foster Wardrip 1949. Howard was born October 20, 1923 in Brandenburg, Meade Co., KY. Howard was the son of Clarence (Butch) Foster Wardrip and Caroline Arnold. Howard died December 26, 2010 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. OBIT: Howard Foster Wardrip, 87, died Dec. 26, 2010, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Brandenburg, to the late Clarence Foster (Butch) and Caroline Arnold Wardrip. He served as a Navy gunner during World War II, seeing action in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters and escorted convoys across the ocean. After the war, he returned to Brandenburg and married Ethel Allgood and began working for the Meade Rural Electric Company. In 1950, he changed jobs to what later became the Brandenburg Telephone Company, where he stayed until his retirement in 1987. He considered the Brandenburg Telephone Company his second home and family.He was also an avid and lifelong hunter and fisherman and along with his wife, Ethel, helped found the Brandenburg Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed genealogy, gardening and photography with Ethel. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Shirley Wardrip and Minnie Richardson; and a brother, Tony Wardrip. Mr. Wardrip is survived by a brother, Pete(Julie) Wardrip, Dawson, Ga.; four nephews, Sim(Rebecca), Homer Lee(Kaye), Bill(Sonya) and Wayne(Carolyn) Richardson; six stepgrandchildren, Faye(Mike)Singleton, Wendy(Donnie) Ashley, Terry(Jerry) Crosier, Jane(Tony) Wethington, James Decker and David Decker; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Dec. 29, from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cap Anderson Cemetery.
