Graveside services for Manley Allgood Jr., 94, Ardmore, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta with the Rev. Truman Rouse officiating.
Born May 27, 1908, in Texas to Manley Sr. and Sis Lucas Allgood, he died Sept. 17, 2002, at the local hospital.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, he worked in the oil fields for Phillips Petroleum for 18 years and was employed by Signal Oil and Gas Company before he retired. He and Lavada Hulsey were married May 9, 1927, in Rising Star, Texas.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Joe, Ardmore, Junior, Bennington and Donnie, DeSoto, Texas; two daughters, Geneva Blackman, Dallas, and Joyce Gibson, Washington, D.C.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and a grandson.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.
He married Lavada Hulsey May 9, 1927 in Rising Star, Brown Co., TX. Lavada was born June 8, 1911 in Hico, Hamilton Co., TX. Lavada died March 10, 2003 in Ardmore, Carter Co., OK. OBIT: Graveside services for Lavada Allgood, 91, Ardmore, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Robert D. Lee officiating.
Born June 8, 1911, in Hico, Texas, to the late Bural and Sally A. Harris Hulsey, she died March 11, 2003, in Ardmore.
She married Manley Allgood Jr. on May 9, 1927, in Rising Star, Texas, and had been a member of Springdale and Calvary Baptist churches. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 17, 2002; a son, Donnie Wayne; a grandson; and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Joe, Ardmore and Junior, Bennington; two daughters, Geneva Blackman, Dallas, and Joyce L. Gibson, Seattle; a sister, Nola F. Walls, Mineral Wells, Texas; 18 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as honorary bearers.
