Zadie died August 18, 2010 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: Zadie Avrett Scott, 86, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2010. Zadie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Julian Harrell Scott; daughters Cindy Scott McAlister and husband Rustin of Athens, and Peggy Scott Spillane and husband Kevin of Marietta; and her six precious granddaughters, Brooks and Ansley McAlister, and Courtney, Rachel, Olivia and Emily Spillane. She is also survived by sister-in-law Marie Scott and brother-in-law George Scott, both of Athens, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her lifetime sisters of Alpha Omicron Pi. Zadie was preceded in death by her parents Mamie Allgood Avrett and Harris Boynton Avrett.Born in Athens, she attended Athens High and the University of Georgia where she received her degree in Psychology. After a few years of teaching, she devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. For 44 years, she was an active member of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Atlanta, where she served on many guilds and chapters. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and held offices in numerous groups, including the Symphony Guild, DAR, UDC, and Alpha Omicron Pi. Zadie's family was her greatest joy, and she and Julian enjoyed traveling with their children and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and faithful servant, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11 a.m., at Saint Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church, with visitation to follow at the church.
