John died May 29, 2013 in Owensboro, Daviess Co., KY. OBIT: John Edward Allgood, 84, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Wellington Parc in Owensboro. He was born in Henderson County on September 12, 1928 to Ezra and Eva Staples Allgood. He was a Christian, having been baptized in the Eve River near Camden, TN. He was a Korean War veteran and was owner and operator of Allgood Salvage in Hollow Rock, TN and Owensboro before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Quentin Allgood and Kim Lawrence Allgood; and a daughter, Adeliah Stigall. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Rochelle Singleton of Nashville; three stepsons, Scott Smith (Kim) of Livermore, KY, Kevin Smith (Kim) of Bridgeport, TX and Mark Smith of Owensboro; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; a sister, Mary Jo Downs (Robert) of Owensboro; a nephew, Daniel D. Downs of Utica, KY; and a niece, Debra Downs Brown (Dennis) of Severna Park, MD. John's body is being sent for research at the University of Louisville Health Science Center. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
He married twice. He married Carmarita Hurldean Galloway. Carmarita was born 1922 in Carter Co., OK. Carmarita was the daughter of Hurley Dewey Galloway. Carmarita died 1972.
