Chester died March 25, 2008 in Altus, Jackson Co., OK. OBIT: Funeral for Chester Lee Allgood, 82, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Allgood died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Altus.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Cemetery under direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Tillman County to Robert Lee and Edith Beatrice Muchmore Allgood. He attended school in Cement. He married Alice Faye Brannum on June 14, 1948, in Vernon, Texas. She died Feb. 11, 2004. He was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Harrell Eugene and Janet Allgood, Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Betty and Eddie Sheffield, Frederick; a sister, Tressia Ryan, of Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dewayne Brannum; five sisters: Lois Weldon, Louella Landrum, Gladys Harmon, Dorothy Johnson and Joy Matthews; and five brothers: Tommy, Harold, Darall, Robert and Wiley Allgood.

He married Alice Faye Brannum July 14,1948 in Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX. Alice was born July 18, 1931 in Cyril, Caddo Co., OK. Alice was the daughter of Charley Lafayette Brannum and Florence Eunice Burk. Alice died February 11, 2004 in Frederick, Tillman Co., OK. OBIT: uneral service for Alice Faye (Brannum) Allgood, 72, of Frederick will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Les Banks, pastor of Tesca Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick.

Allgood died Wednesday evening, February 11, 2004, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Alice Faye Brannum was born on July 18, 1931, to Charley Lafayette and Florence Eunice (Burk) Brannum, in Cyril. She attended school at Davidson. She completed her G.E.D. in Chattanooga. On July 14, 1948, she was joined in marriage to Chester L. Allgood in Vernon, Texas. She worked on the farm, at Frybrant, Centra Leather Goods, Betsy Bra Factory, and at Kellwoods. She was a member of the United Neighbors Club, Better Breathers Club, and Trustee of the American Lung Association. In 1994, she won the Southwest Regional Wonder Worker Award, and the Christmas Seals Chairperson for Tillman County, which she also won in 1995. She was a volunteer and taught crafts at the Better Breathers Club Camp Spirit, near Oklahoma City. Alice was a member of the Tesca Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charley DeWayne Brannum; and three brothers: David Brannum, Lloyd Harrell and Floyd Harrell.

She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Harrell Eugene Allgood of Burkburnett, Texas; one daughter, Betty J. Sheffield and her husband, Eddie, of Frederick; one brother: Charley Brannum, and his wife, Ossie Mae, of Webber Falls; three sisters, Gloria Curtis and her husband, Jack, of Midwest City, Bessie Edwards and husband, Lonnie, of Cushing and Rose McCann of Gore; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
