He was born June 15, 1929 in Farmington, the son of Louis and Mary Tanko Allgood.
He married Virginia Hilbert on May 9, 1997 in Thayer.
Gerald retied from Fiat-Allis after 30 years. He also worked for Chatham School District for 10 years after retiring from Fiat-Allis.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; son, Dan (Anita) Allgood of Farmersville; three step-daughters, Linda (Chuck) VanAusdall of Virden, Betty Mitchell and Beverly (Rick) Conwill both of Carlinville; two brothers, Elmer (Arlene) Allgood of Springfield and David (Dottie) Allgood of Johnson City, TN; several grandkids; great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm, Friday, January 4, 2013 at Bramley Funeral Home, Divernon. Services will be held at 9am, Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery.
He married Virginia R. Hilbert May 9, 1997 in Thayer Co., NE. Virginia was born June 1, 1933 in Auburn, Sangamon Co., IL. Virginia was the daughter of George Pratt and Hallie Spurlock. Virginia died December 29, 2013 in Virden, Macoupin Co., IL. OBIT: Virginia R. Hilbert-Allgood 80, of Virden, IL passed away Tuesday October 29, 2013 at Sunrise Manor, Virden, IL.
Virginia was born June 1, 1933 in Auburn, IL a daughter to George and Hallie (Spurlock) Pratt. She was a 1951 graduate of Virden High School. Virginia married Joe Hilbert in 1951 in Piggott, AR. Joe preceded in death in 1995, in 1996 she married Gerald Allgood in Thayer, IL and he preceded in 2013. Virginia worked as a teller at Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Virden, IL for 19 years retiring in 1991 and was a member of the First Christian Church in Virden, IL.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Linda (Chuck) VanAusdall of Virden, IL and Betty Mitchell and Bev (Rick) Conwill both of Girard, IL, a step-son Danny (Anita) Allgood of Farmersville, IL, sister, JoAnn (Evan) Cain of Virden, IL and a brother, Carl Hannon of Virden, IL and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were her husbands, Joe Hilbert and Gerald Allgood, a son Eric Hilbert, and brothers Fred, James and Robert Pratt.
Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday Oct. 31, 2013 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral home, Virden, IL with Rev. John Huxtable officiating. Pallbearers are Tony VanAusdall, Allen Poggenpohl, Brian Allen, Travis Frakes, Shane and Adam Norman. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery
