18961. Mary Helen⁹ Cottrell (Allene Rebecca⁸ Allgood, James Daniel⁷, John James⁶, William Edward⁵, Holwell Edward⁴, John Young³, William² Algood, Edward¹ Allgood) was born in Granville Co, NC February 26, 1938. Mary died June 11, 1997 in Chase City, Mecklenburg Co., VA.

She married Henry Edward Carter October 31,1953 in Mecklenberg Co., VA. Henry was born February 19, 1933 in Mecklenberg Co., VA. Henry was the son of Joseph (Joe) Henry Carter and Mary Elizabeth Allgood. Henry died January 16, 2012 in Chase City, Mecklenburg Co., VA. OBIT: Henry Edward Carter, 78, of Chase City passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 in Halifax.

He was the husband of the late Mary Helen Carter and son of the late Joseph Henry and Mary Elizabeth Allgood Carter.

He was a retired VDOT Employee and a US Army veteran.

Surviving are his two daughters, Sylvia Newcomb (Lawrence, Jr.) of Chase City and Brenda Gill (Will) of Black Ridge; son, Marty Carter (Janet) of Chase City; sisters Nellie Allgood and Rachel Wilmoth both of Chase City; brother Neal Carter of Boydton; grandchildren, Jennifer Moore, Zach Carter, Nick Carter and Sam Gill; and great-grandson Chase Moore.

A graveside service will be held Thursday Jan. 19, at 2 p.m., in Easters United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
