Fred died February 7, 2009 in Whiteville, Columbus Co., NC. OBIT: Mr. Fred Thomas Allgood, 69 of Whiteville died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by love in the company of his wife and beloved animals, Lit Bit, Crickett, Kiki and Sam the Magestic. Fred was born August 10, 1939 in Stovall, Granville County, NC, the son of the late John William and Edna Mae Boyd Allgood. Fred graduated from Stovall High School in 1957. He enlisted in the US Navy for four active years and then the Navy Reserve. During his military service, he spent time in Japan where he earned a Black Belt in Karate. He returned to Granville County and was employed by the NC Highway Patrol. Fred taught tactical training to incoming troopers in Wake County as well as a respected State Trooper in Columbus County. Fred owned and operated Allgood Landscaping and Developing, Allgood and Son Well Drilling, and later joined his wife as a real estate broker with Alliance Realty, Inc. A funeral service will be conducted 12 Noon, Monday, February 9, 2009 at Peacock's Chapel by Dr. Ray Thigpen. Interment will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Strickland Allgood; three daughters, Victoria Allgood Murray and husband, Gregg, Amy Allgood Soles & husband, Freddie, Meg Allgood Sellers & husband, William; a son, David Allgood and wife, Cindy; Step-children, Larry Leder, Sadie Leder and Ashley Clingman; eight grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Allgood Cash & husband, William; nieces, Michelle Allgood Bailey & Sherry Barker Grey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Allgood and a sister, Ruth Allgood Barker. The family will receive friends 11 :00 AM, Monday, February 9, 2009 at Peacock Funeral Home.
