She married George Valentine Metzel JR September 14, 1935 in Harrison Co., OK. George was born July 12, 1912 in Mechanicsburg, IL. George was the son of George Valentine Metzel and Hanna Magdalene Himes. George died May 39, 1996 in Gilmer, Upshur Co., TX. OBIT George V. Metzel, a former University of Tulsa professor, died Thursday in Gilmer, Texas. He was 83. An Illinois native, Metzel graduated from the University of Oklahoma, and did graduate work at Cornell University. He began teaching in Hollis and served as principal. He later taught at East Central State Teachers College, now East Central University. He became a professor of English and literature at the University of Tulsa in 1945 and taught until his retirement in 1978. He also served as registrar. A past president of the Oklahoma organization of the National Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, he was also a member of the Oklahoma Council of English Teachers.
