16387. David Carlton8 Allgood (Walter Elwood7, James William (Bud)6, David Henry5, Manley H.4, John3, Ishmael2, Edward1) was born in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY August 7, 1934. David died May 26, 2016 in Carmel, Hamilton Co., IN. OBIT: David C. Allgood, 81, Lapel, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Wellbrooke of Carmel following a brief battle with brain cancer. He was born on Aug. 7, 1934, in Louisville, Ky., to Walter and Lillian (Bennett) Allgood. He graduated from New Albany High School in 1952 and received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a master's degree from Ball State. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. David retired in 1987 as an engineer at the former Fisher Guide division of General Motors in Anderson after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and several ministries of the church. David had volunteered at Community Hospital of Anderson. He was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara J. (Fischer) Allgood; three children, Barbie (husband, Gary) Roach of Carmel, Doug (wife, Susan) Allgood of Zionsville, and Greg (wife, Susan) Allgood of Simpsonville, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (wife, Sandy) Allgood of New Albany; one sister, Marilyn (husband, Bill) Wilson of Flushing, Mich.; and two sisters-in-law, Thelma Curry and Helen Allgood. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William Curry and Frank Allgood. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church in Lapel with the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 N. Main St., Lapel.
