George died January 9, 2007 in Tifton, Tift Co., GA. OBIT: George Dickie Ayscue, 82, of Tifton, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and the Rev. Chris Shoemaker officiating. Ron Evans will give the eulogy. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Larry Railey, Ron Hooks, Tommy Ray, Britt Faircloth, Jack Whitehead and Doodle Thomason will serve as pallbearers. Frank Koran, Hugh Chandler, Warren Houseworth, Ralph Chambers, Raymond Miller, Bob Fricks, Dr. Greg Anderson, Frank McGill, Dickie Crosby, George Lindstedt, Harold Chambers, Robert Branch Sr., David Gaskins, Bobby Metts, J.H. White, Lamar Brooks, Mark Pless, Grady Keeter and all his friends from the Tift Avenue McDonald’s Coffee Group will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Aug. 9, 1924, in the Rocky Ford Community of Franklin County, N.C., to the late Nathaniel Henry Ayscue and Lillie Bessie Harris Ayscue, Mr. Ayscue was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Mr. Ayscue was retired from Tifton Aluminum Company and was a tool and die maker by trade. He previously lived in Raleigh, N.C., Newnan, Hialeah, Fla., and Florence, Ala., before relocating to Tifton where he settled for the past 40 years. He was a retired superintendent/plant manager and one of many employees of Tifton Aluminum Company that helped start and make the company one of the best and most productive companies that Alcoa Aluminum Company operated. He thought a lot of all the employees at the plant who helped make it so successful.

Mr. Ayscue was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed quail hunting with his friends, always raising hunting dogs and eager for the season to begin. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves during the baseball season. He was a member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church, a member of the Beacon Sunday School Class and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Elks.

Mr. Ayscue is survived by his loving wife, Marie Hayes Ayscue, to whom he was married for 63 years; his only child, a son, Richard Gerald (Gerry) Ayscue and his wife, Susan Jordan Ayscue, of Tifton; and also the greatest joys of his life, his grandchildren; he was “Papa” to Walt Archer of Suwannee, Allison Archer and Blake Ayscue, both of Tifton. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Evelyn Ayscue Rupp of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; one brother, Lee Johnson Ayscue of Alvin, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

George Dickie Ayscue and Marie Hayes had the following child:
