Jaunita died November 23, 2011 in Plant City, Hillsborough Co., FL. OBIT: Juanita Pearl Tharrington, 90, of Plant City, Fla., passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011, in Tampa, sur-rounded by her loving family. She was born June 16, 1921, in Franklin County, N.C., to the late Starkey Lee Tharrington Sr. and Mattie Pearl Hedgepeth Tharrington. Juanita attended school in North Carolina and studied nursing before marrying the love of her life, Vernon Ayscue, December 26, 1941, in Dillon, S.C. In 1953, Juanita and Vernon moved to Plant City with their three children. She was an avid reader, loved to work in her yard, and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During her life in Plant City, Juanita was a member of First Baptist Church, Woman's Club, Garden Club, the Lions Club Auxillary and the American Legion Auxillary. She and Vernon were members of First Baptist Church for more than 50 years, joining soon after moving to Plant City. It was at First Baptist Church where they made lifelong friends whom they cherish. Juanita always had the uncanny ability of letting her children know which friends were good for them and which ones were not. Seems like she was always correct. This drove her children crazy. Later on, they appreciated her wisdom. Juanita was well-known for her delicious coconut pies that she made for family dinners and her pan-fried cornbread. Juanita is survived by Vernon, her husband of almost 70 years; daughters, LaVerne Goss (Jerry) and Elizabeth Katz (Bill); grandchildren, Kelley Goss Tartaro (Tommy), Matthew Goss (Joy), and Vernon Joseph Katz (Keri); great-grandchildren, T.J. and Hannah Tartaro, Ryan and Regan Goss; and siblings, Kinwood Tharrington (Jerry), Starkey Tharrington Jr. (Janet), Naomi Stanton, Martha McMahon (Doyne) and Larry Tharrington (Virginia); brother-in-law, John Palenchar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
