Ethel died August 2, 2003 in Asheboro, Randolph Co., NC. OBIT: Ethel Mae Allgood, 90, of 4965 Walker Mill Road, and formerly of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Clapp's Nursing Home in Asheboro, after a year and a half of failing health.The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tommy Kidd of Friendship Baptist Church in Randleman. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

She was born in Mecklenburg County, Va., to the late Samuel Wilson Allgood and the late Martha Hightower Allgood. Ms. Allgood retired from Sanders Hosiery Mill and was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Larry Allgood of the home; and sister, Nellie Smiley of South Hill, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sarah Tolleson, Fannie Bailey, Hessie Lancaster, Lessie Carter and Mary Ann Allgood; brothers, Alex Allgood, Herman Allgood and Wilson Allgood.

She married twice. She married George Conrad Allgood November 30, 1934 in Halifax Co., VA. George was born September 13, 1901 in Durham Co., NC. George was the son of George Lafayette Allgood and Bessie Scarlett. George died January 14, 1950 in Pleasant Grove, Alamanc Co., NC. She married Ralph McDavis August 4, 1956 in Alamance Co., NC. Ralph was born 1914.
