Harrell died May;22, 2000 in Chapel Hill, Orange Co., NC. OBIT: Harrell Cleveland Baity, 53, of 19 Summey Drive died May 22, 2000 at the University of North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He was born Jan. 18, 1947 in Davidson County, a son of James Leroy 'Speedy' and Odessa Atwood Baity.

He was a resident of Davidson County the majority of his life. He graduated from East Davidson High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 101st Airborne Division.

He was a member and builder of the Church of Tomorrow and served on the church board. He was owner and operator of Baity & Son Construction and part owner of the Potters House. He served on the steering committee of the March of Dimes.

On May 31, 1975, he married Miss Marti Long, who survives of the residence. He was such a loving husband, dad, and pawpaw and a blessing to so many.

Also surviving are a daughter, a son, his mother, Mrs. Odessa Lothridge of Lexington; a sister, of Lexington; two brothers, two granddaughters, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, his stepmother, two stepsisters, a stepbrother, two God-daughters, his coffee buddies, his golfing buddies, and the rest of the Thursday night golf team.

Funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Church of Tomorrow by the Rev. D.W. Long and the Rev. Huey Turner. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
