H. died August 27, 2012. OBIT: Funeral services for H. Matthews Gruben, age 87 of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Bro. Ken Womack will officiate the service; military honors will be rendered by United States Army Honor Guard. Interment will be held at Willow Wild Cemetery.
H. Matthews Gruben was born on December 9, 1924 in Spur, TX to John and Stella (Matthews) Gruben. He married Jeanne Louise (Anderson) Gruben on December 3, 1944; she preceded him in death on November 13, 2005. Mr. Gruben served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a Tech. Sergeant for the 82nd Paratrooper Airborne All American Division, played in the Army Band, and is a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Bonham.
He is survived by Sons-John S. Gruben and wife JoAnn of Bonham, TX; and Matthews C. Gruben and wife Kathleen of Statesboro, GA; Grandchildren-Bonnie Jeanne Huggins and husband Hugh of Myrtle Beach, SC; Jeffrey Matthews Gruben of Johns Creek, GA; Lisa Lynn Gruben of Columbia, SC; Great grandchild-Henry Huggins; and Sister-Emma Allbritton of Seymour, TX. He is also preceded in death by Brother-William Charles Gruben, II.
Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, from 6-8 p.m.
He married Jeanne Louise Anderson December 3, 1944 in Spur, Dickens Co., TX. Jeanne was born July 21, 1925 in Evanston Co., IL. Jeanne was the daughter of Vincent A Anderson and Emma D Effinger. Jeanne died November 13, 2005 in Bonham, Fannin Co, TX. OBIT: Funeral services for Jeanne Louise Gruben, age 80, of Bonham will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham with Bro. Rick Shulze officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham. Mrs. Gruben passed away Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Northeast Medical Center in Bonham. She was born July 21, 1925 in Evanston, Illinois to Vincent Albert Anderson and Dorothy Effinger Anderson. On December 3, 1944, she married H. Matthews Gruben in Spur, Texas. Mrs. Gruben was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bonham. Family visitation will be Tuesday, November 15 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Jeanne Louise Gruben is survived by her husband of 61 years, H. Matthews Gruben of Bonham, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Matthews. C and Dr. Kathleen H. Gruben of Statesboro, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, John S. and JoAnn Gruben of Bonham, Texas; granddaughter, Bonnie Jeanne Gruben of Belville, North Carolina; grandson, Jeffrey Matthews Gruben of Statesboro, Georgia; granddaughter, Lisa Lynn Gruben of Bonham, Texas; and sister, Dorothy Anderson of Richardson, Texas.
H. Matthews Gruben and Jeanne Louise Anderson had the following children:
