She was born August 3, 1923 in Chase City Willie Waverly Owen and Effie Harris Owen. She was the widow of Albert "Lucky" Barker, Jr. and was a retired owner and operator of the former Lucky's T.V. She is survived by a son, Larry Wayne Barker of Quinton; two grand-daughters, Melissa C. Hughes of Richmond and Katherine N. Barker of West Point; a great-grandson, Justin Hughes of Richmond; a sister, Jena O. Moore and two brothers, K. Jack Owen and Marion Owen, all of Chase City. Newcomb-Allgood Funeral Home, Chase City in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held May 22 at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Bill Thornton officiating.

She married Albert (Lucky) Barker. Albert was born January 17, 1919. Albert died April 7,1978. OBIT: Albert "Lucky" Barker, Jr. of West Point, VA died April 7, 1978. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Owen Baker, one son, Larry Wayne Barker of Richmond, one brother, Dock Barker of Providence Forge, VA, one sister, Mrs. Ida Myres of Roanoke, one grand-daughter, Melissa Lynn Barker. Remains rest at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, VA. Funeral services Sunday at 3 PM Newcomb Funeral Home at Chase City, VA. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, Chase City. The family will receive friends at Vincent Funeral Home 7 to 9 Saturday.
