9194. Warren Clay⁸ Mundy (Minnie G.⁷ Allgood, Henry Clay⁶, John Young⁵, William A.⁴, John Young³, William² Algood, Edward¹ Allgood) was born in Polk Co., GA May 14, 1908. Warren died July 19, 1995 in Rome, Floyd Co., GA. OBIT: Clay Mundy, 87, 911 Hancock Drive, Americus, died at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome Wednesday, July 19, 1995. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, 1995 in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Americus. The Rev. Jim Jenson and the Rev. Jerry Lillard officiated. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockmart with the Rev. David Autry, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Rockmart, officiating. Mr. Mundy was a native of Polk County, born May 14, 1908 son of the late Ivey Felton Mundy and Minnie Allgood Mundy. He was a graduate of Young Harris College, the University of Georgia, Emory University and the Atlanta Law School. He became principal of Americus High School in 1947. In 1957, he became a superintendent of Americus City Schools, a position he held until his retirement in 1970. Mr. Mundy was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a past chairman of its administrative board. He was a former member and past president of the Americus Rotary Club. He was preceded in death in 1984 by his first wife, Mrs. Irene Greenway Mundy. Survivors include: his wife, Janie Arnold Mundy, Americus; his daughter, June Mundy Campbell, Cave Spring; son, Warren Clay Mundy, Jr., Mobile, AL; brother, Madison Lee Mundy, Pensacola, FL; daughter, Jeani Hicks Sheppard, Americus; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Hancock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He married twice. He married Jane Arnold. He married Irene Greenway. Irene was born August 13,1906 in GA. Irene was the daughter of William Bascom Greenway and Minnie Adams. Irene died March 19,1984 in Sumter, GA.
