Benjamin died December 1, 2016 in Sarasota Co., FL. OBIT: Graham was a native Floridian and a member of a pioneer family. He was the great-great grandson of Josiah Gates, the first settler in Manatee County. Graham was named for his grandfather, B.C. Graham, the first superintendent of Hillsborough County schools. Graham was raised in Tampa and graduated from the University of Florida. At UF he met and married Mildred Ayers. They were married for 54 years until Mildred's death in 2010. Graham and Mildred moved to Sarasota from Tampa in 1960. Graham was a social studies teacher and an expert in Florida history. He taught for the majority of his career at Brookside Middle School. Graham was a member of Church of the Redeemer and sang in the choir for many years. He devoted himself as a volunteer at Resurrection House, a day shelter for the homeless, for 20+ years. He received the Sarasota Community Foundation Unsung Hero Award in 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Natilea Yoder of Sarasota and Sarah South of Chesterfield, MO, sons-in-law Jim Yoder of Sarasota and Mike South of Chesterfield, MO, grandchildren Matt (Sarah) Yoder of New Market, MD, Andy Yoder of Sarasota, Jared Yoder of Sarasota, Ben South of Chesterfield, MO, and Juliana South of Chesterfield, MO, great-grandchildren Grace Yoder and Graham Yoder of New Market, MD. He married Mildred Ayers Jamuary 1956 in Alachua Co., FL. Mildred was born March 15, 1934. Mildred died March 9, 2010 in Sarasota Co., FL. OBIT: Mildred A. Allgood, 75, of Sarasota, died March 9, 2010.Services will be at noon Monday at Church of the Redeemer, Episcopal, Sarasota.Survivors include her husband of 54 years, B. Graham; daughters Natilea Yoder of Sarasota and Sarah South of Chesterfield, Mo.; sisters Anne Helms of Brentwood, Md., and Helen Corne of Fayetteville N.C.;sons-in-law James Yoder of Sarasota and Michael South of Chesterfield; grandchildren Matthew (Sarah) Yoder of New Market, Md., Andrew Yoder and Jared Yoder of Sarasota, Benjamin South and Juliana South of Chesterfield; and a great-granddaughter, Grace Yoder of New Market.Mildred attended Mars Hill College and the University of Florida. She retired after 35 years from G.T.E. -
