American Legionnaires were pallbearers.
Mr. Lester died of pneumonia at the Veterans Administration hospital in Jackson August 5, 1955.
Born in Plattsburg March 14, 1919, son of the late John and Ethel Wood Lester, he made his home with his uncle, George S. Wood, until he was 18 years old. For several years he was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. A veteran of World War II he served overseas in the European theatre.
He leaves two sisters, Mr.s Booster Blair of Louisville, and Mrs. Mary Knowles of Washington, D.C; one brother, John Lester of Memphis; four aunts, Mrs. Martha Hunt and Mrs. Mollie Weems, both of Louisville, Mrs Bessie Algood of Philadelphia and Miss Lola Wood of Memphis; and one uncle, G. S. Wood of Louisville.
Amon those from Louisville other than the immediate family attending the funeral services were Mrs. Esther Duncan and Jimmy, Mrs. Martha Hunt, Everette Hunt and Sonny, Miss Lorene Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Lowery, Mrs. Corrie Algood, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Algood.
