My name is Roger Dean Weinert. My father homesteaded 7 miles north of Roy in 1914. His 1st wife, Amelia,died in the flu epidemic in 1918 or early 1919 while back in Buffalo, NY visiting her father who also died of the flu.My father, Fred Weinert, married my mother, Helen Obee in 1924. She was a teacher in the area. I was born 2/13/33 at St. Josephs in Lewistown. I am looking for my baptismal record & the name of the sponsors if at all possible. I think I would have been baptized in Roy or maybe Lewistown at a Protestant church probobly in 33 or 34. Any help will be appreciated.
We left the homestead in the dry 30s & dad went to work in the copper mines in Butte until he lost his health, then he worked WPA & whatever until we moved to Michigan in 41 after the war started. We were in Three Forks at the time of the move. In Michigan we lived on a farm near Lansing & dad worked for the State of Michigan in a carpenter shop. He died in Sept of 1972 & my mother died in May of 1990, 2 days short of her 87th bithday.
Max Weinert, dads brother,came to Montana with my father & would have left that day if he had had the money to do so. As it was he fell in love with Montana& lived in Lewistown & the surrounding area until his death in the late 60s.
I am related to the Surbers,Baulchs,Esther & Tom Biggerstaff. They were the daughters of my grandfather Chris Obee, a methodist minister who died in 23 from a throat infection caused by a barley husk.
