Laycation

Day ?. I'm beginning to lose track. Is it 16 or 17? Which ever it is my days off are drawing to an end. Unless something unforeseen happens, I'll be back at work in a couple of days and you, my friends, will get a reprieve from my crazy post. I must say this has been the best summer I've had since I was a kid growing up on Oak Hill Farm in Mississippi. Counting vacation time, I've had nearly five weeks off. It's tempting to throw in the towel and retire. Believe it or not I have accomplished a lot of work around the house that I've been wanting to do for a long time. I've spent time with grandchildren, Dunk'n Donuts, and sat on the riverfront downtown watching tugs chug up the Ohio. I've made a trip back home. My first since the tornado that hit Louisville last year. It breaks my heart to see the devastation that friends and relatives endured. It also inspired me that they have drawn together and moved forward to begin rebuilding the community. That's what I love about my hometown. It was great seeing new friends, old friends and relatives while I was back home. Visiting the home place on the hill was a thrill. There is a nice young couple living there that are making memories with their young family. Life goes on, and it should.

Keep seeking out the good around you, and better the bad. I'll be signing off for a while and give you a break. Meanwhile I'm gonna hang around the mailbox and wait for my first "entitlement" check. I sure could use it. My tab at Dunk'n Donuts is about due. That's how life unfolds.
