Happy Anniversary Tina

Once upon a time. That’s how fairy tales begin, isn’t it? I know I’ve been living a fairytale life because long ago I found love at the library among all those stories on the shelves around me. I think back and see how very, very far we’ve come. Starting out as two kids, one a seventeen year old princess, the other a lucky twenty-two year old guy with barely two nickels to rub together. A Ford Pinto. A tin-roofed house that leaked every time it rained. A kitchen table made from scraps, a homemade bookcase, a couch and a black and white television set with bent rabbit ears covered with foil. We were two hearts full of dreams, naïve and a long, long way to go. We didn’t have a clue the deck was stacked against us. But we had that love from the library, and we had each other. For forty-one years we’ve managed to write our own story. Each day is a happily-ever-after fairytale to cherish.

I cannot imagine my life had you not walked through those library doors on the corner of Church and Park back in 1973. Who would have thought that two years later we would be married. When I saw you I knew you were something special. You’ve read me like a book. I, on the other hand, can’t wait to turn the page and see what tomorrow brings. And it’s all because I fell in love at the library- once upon a time, a long time ago.

Happy anniversary, Tina. More today than then, more tomorrow than I can even imagine, I love you.
